The gospel story is about brokenness and redemption for people who are helpless without a Savior. At Movement Church, we have the privilege of sharing this story weekly in both large and small group settings. My hope for Movement is that we will proclaim this story even more powerfully through our recent loss of meeting space, showing our dependence on God and His redemption through grace. I envision Movement becoming a renewed church with renewed faith, sharing both our story and the gospel story with the community in a vibrant and visible way.
Jeannie and I both grew up in Colorado, just four blocks apart. We attended the same Baptist church, where we fell in love and served together in the youth group. We married as youngsters in 1981. Our journey in ministry took us from Denver to Seattle, then St. Louis, and finally to the greater Nashville area in 2013, settling in Hendersonville in 2019. We’re blessed with two sons, a spunky daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.
I work remotely as the Director of Multiplication at Great Commission Collective, a network dedicated to church planting and leader development. My past roles include President of Acts 29 Network, Executive Pastor at Immanuel Church in Nashville, Associate National Director of C2C Network in Canada, and lead pastor for 17 years, along with nine years as a youth pastor. I’ve also had the opportunity to author several books: The Gospel Shaped Leader, Twenty Great Truths: Equipping Leaders in Biblical Doctrine, Gospel Coach Workbook, Redeeming Grace, and Gospel Coach.
A memorable moment for me was sitting in the second service at Immanuel Nashville just two days after the tornado hit in December 2023. Feeling prompted, I drove down Main Street in Hendersonville, praying and listening to Scripture. As I drove slowly through the tornado-ravaged area, I noticed church members salvaging what they could from the destroyed Movement building. I stopped to talk with Daniel and a few others, and we exchanged numbers. This encounter led to regular meetings and a God-orchestrated relationship.
Jeannie and I are deeply committed to Movement Church and are honored to serve here.
